This article takes immersion-type probe as the research objective, analyzing its characteristics. Firstly, the article introduces the development of ultrasound piezoelectric transducer, the structure of immersion-type ustrasonic probe, its performance indicator and the effect of the indicator. Then the acoustic field of round piston probe is analyzed, which establishes the academic basis for analyzing the characteristics and testing the performance of the probe. Secondly, the article researches the detection method of immersion-type probe. It measures the frequency acoustic field characteristics of the probe via ball-target method. Meanwhile, we've researched some key technologes, such as automatic tracking of waveform and visual technology. Finally, programing with Visual C++ compiling environment, we test the characteristics of immersion-type ultrasonic probe. Moreover, we summarize all the work described in this article and look into the future work.

In ultrasonic nondestructive detection, the performance of detectors immediately decides if the detection system could function greatly. The accuracy and reliability of the results from a detection cannot be guaranteed if, before a detection starts, the performance parameters of the ultrasonic detectors are little known. Taking water ultrasonic detectors as its research object, this paper has given a good analysis on their features. In the first part, the paper introduced the develoment of checking methods on ultrasound piezoelectric transducers, together with the structure, performance index and their impacts of water ultrasonic detectors, followed by the analysis on acoustic radiation of round piston style detectors. This analysis provides the theoretical basis for the feature analysis and performance tests. The second part of this paper studied the test methods on water ultrasonic detectors using spherical target method in testing detectors' features in its free field frequency. Furthermore, key techniques such as wave automatic tracking and visualization technology were also discussed. In the end, Visual C++ was applied to making the program for water ultrasonic detector testings. A summary was done for the complete works this paper has accomplished and given the prospects for surther study in the future.
